The Kings Wings – Outdoor Creative Learning Space

One of the world’s most creative learning spaces celebrated it’s first birthday this week with a big party that gave the local community to chance to reflect on an outstandingly successful academic year at Kingsland Primary School.

The King’s Wings Project reverberated around the world in 2009 when a 360 Jet aeroplane was saved from the scrap heap and became the world’s first flying classroom.

Podcasting Parents Surprise Their Children

Lindridge Primary School have a ‘state of the art’ computer suite with Macbook computers they want to start using more in school and in family learning. They have been hosting a series of after school creative learning sessions for families to help engage parents in activities. Using modern digital tools families have experienced innovative workshops including animation, photography, film and audio broadcasting. Each session has seen professional artists, parents and pupils working together to produce very innovative outcomes which can be achieved at home.

This project is about having fun with digital media with a family friendly approach that takes the mystery away from technology, the children have been able to help their parents learn new skills and parents are getting more confident each week’ – Mark White, Digital Artist

The project has involved every child in the school working with a range of digital artists and has included professional development sessions with the staff team to help embed the creative learning techniques in the classroom across the whole curriculum.

‘ I am very proud of how the children are working together and producing such an excellent standard of work, we are using our computers in new creative ways and through this project we are engaging more parents in the life of our school’ -  Sue Warner, Head Teacher
